Money saving Hacks | Christmas | 2020 edition |

It's that time of the year...

Remembering all the kids Christmas activities, nursery and school nativity plays, Christmas gift shopping, scheduling friends and family to come over during the holidays, teacher gifts, phonics, cooking the Turkey....

1- Plan Christmas a year to 6 months in advance
I know this sounds nuts but honestly knowing what is happening and who you're visiting makes it a lot easier and less stressful.

2- Buy gifts in the boxing day and January sales. Buy and stock up throughout the year on all the sales. It's amazing how much money you can save by doing this. I manage to save up to £200/£300 by doing this each year.

3- The things you don't think of buying in those sales. Wrapping paper, christmas cards, tape, gift tags, gift bags, Christmas arts and crafts for the kids, stickers, advent calendars (the non-chocolate ones) I brought the Harry Potter charms bracelet advent calendar and frozen 2 advent calendar in Sainsburys at a massive discount £5 each instead of £18 each.... huge saving!

4- Book in advance (when they go live). The Christmas activities with the kids Santas grotto are mostly £5 per child, feed a deer, Christmas pony rides, Christmas fayres , Christmas messy play, etc... booking in advance saves disappoint.

5- During the sales buy your child clothing for the following year I've been doing this ever since I've had Poppy. I buy all the Christmas outfits, dress up clothing in the next size up in the sales ready for next Christmas. I also do this for Halloween and world book day....

6- Set a money budget for each child! This includes main presents, lots of friends and family find it odd we only spend around £60 on Poppy last Christmas that's because I got it all in the sales throughout the year. We are also a family that don't like to just throw gifts at our kids we like them to appreciate each toy rather them forgot what they got.

7- Enjoy Christmas
Now you've got all this out of the way gifts wrapped, cards sent off, the kids activities booked, a date night planned for you and hubby, the tickets and costumes sorted for the nativity plays, etc. Look forward to the festive season. Enjoy picking the Christmas tree, go to the Christmas light switch on, drink hot chocolate baileys why... because you've just spent all year getting ready for the best Christmasever. Have a stress free December.

Let me know how you get on?

xXx

Baby Items I Don't Buy | minimalist lifestyle

Living in a small space we found you don't need half of the things all the parent magazines tell you. You have to work with what you've got and we've saved space and  money by doing it this way.  A baby monitor We have never owned one because we are one door away from the bedroom to the front room we check on our children regularly, i don't see the point in having one in a small flat. If you're in a big house then I completely understand and I would do the same too If we lived in a bigger place.  A changing table We have always used a changing mat followed by a basket full of nappies, creams, wipes, cloths, etc and stored it away for easy access. Changing tables are a large item to have in a small home and as much as I would like one, a baby changing mat does the same thing.  Formula heating machine I've breastfed and fed my children formula and one thing we don't need is a chunky machine to get the formula mixed and hot. We can quiet easily stor...
